Matt brings more than 15 years of strategic marketing and healthcare communications experience to his role as president of The Scienomics Group, where he directs the development and implementation of innovative scientific strategy, medical communications and peer-to-peer education. His clients benefit from his unique blend of marketing expertise, scientific knowledge, and specialty therapeutic area experiences. Matt has worked extensively in oncology, hematology, urology, mental health, and metabolic disorders.
Matt gained a deep understanding of the industry from a client-side perspective, with prior experience in brand management and sales for AstraZeneca and Solvay Pharmaceuticals. Matt has been involved in branding and commercialization strategies at every point in the drug development life-cycle.
Matt has a profound respect for the science behind today’s innovative medicines. His career began in the laboratory as a bench scientist, studying signal transduction pathways in diabetes mellitus. A graduate of The University of California, Berkeley, with a BS in molecular and cell biology, Matt continued his education and received an executive certificate in pharmaceutical drug development from UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business.
Matt is a novice wine collector with a particular fondness for a well-aged Barolo. He enjoys cooking and is happiest when his kitchen is full with family and close friends.
Lauren leads our Client Services group and is strategic marketing lead for our key accounts. She has extensive launch and lifecycle management experience, including disease education and branded commercialization strategy. Lauren brings our clients over 15 years of experience in the healthcare industry, 12 of which she spent on the client side in marketing, leading large teams to launch pharmaceutical and biologic compounds.
She has extensive expertise in therapeutic areas including ophthalmology, insomnia, and erectile dysfunction, and led brand launches for blockbuster brands like Viagra during her 10 year tenure at Pfizer. Lauren is also a Genentech alumnus and was Marketing Director for the promotional launch of Lucentis in wet AMD.
Lauren received her BA in Economics and French at the University of Virginia and her MBA in Marketing and Finance from Columbia Business School.
In her spare time, Lauren is an avid runner and classical pianist.
Dr. Rooney is responsible for developing scientifically-based marketing strategies as well as leading a team in the development medical content aligned to these strategies. Dr. Rooney has experience across a wide range of disease states, including immunology, oncology, rheumatology, gastroenterology, neurobiology, metabolic disease, and infectious diseases.
Prior to his career in medical education, Dr. Rooney earned a PhD in immunology from Harvard University, where he worked on lymphocyte development and lymphomagenesis. Later, as a Jane Coffin Childs Postdoctoral Fellow at The Rockefeller University in New York, he focused on telomere-driven tumor suppressor mechanisms. He has been the lead author of work published in such peer-reviewed journals as Immunological Reviews, Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences USA, the Journal of Experimental Medicine, and Molecular Cell.
In his spare time, Dr. Rooney coaches local youth baseball, softball, and basketball teams.
Markus brings over 20 years of experience in the marketing and advertising industry, focused on creative leadership on the healthcare and pharmaceutical industry. He has led diverse copy and art teams in the marketing of established and new products across US and global markets.
His career and creative leadership has spanned therapeutic areas and specialized medicine categories, including oncology, immunology, and dermatology, and ensured consistent cross-cultural messaging and communication. He has contributed to several successful brand- and indication expansions and launches in global markets.
With extensive experience across print, digital, and experiential design, he has led the effort in creating compelling and effective campaigns and congress events around the world that combine visual communication, spatial design, and highly engaging digital components to maximize his clients’ messaging.
Markus received his BA in Media Studies from The New School University, with a concentration in writing. He spends his free time hiking the Rockies or Adirondacks, photographing, and creating handmade books.
Kirsten brings over 20 years of experience in strategic healthcare marketing across a range of health care organizations. As a proven leader, she has developed best practices for generating new business, and delivered integrated solutions from development through commercialization for biotech, pharmaceutical, medical device, and nonprofit organizations. Her experience with strategy spans development through execution, leveraging new and traditional media, and health IT platforms to bring new products and services to market.
Kirsten's in-depth category and therapeutic experience includes cardiovascular, CNS, diabetes, gastroenterology, immunology/oncology, pain management, women’s health, rare disease/orphan drugs, and vaccines. She has a successful track record of leading efforts to improve efficiencies and build high performing teams, and is passionate about creating innovative solutions and improving health outcomes.
Kirsten received her BA in English from Dartmouth College and her MBA in marketing from the University of Michigan - Stephen M. Ross School of Business.
Kirsten enjoys hot yoga and painting, as well as traveling to the beach with a good book whenever possible.
